Your proposal needs a Title.
Rapid Access mail-in requests must select both:
Does this proposal require mail-in service? = "YES"
Is this proposal for rapid-access powder diffraction measurements?= "YES"
"NO" is the common answer for the other questions, but answer as appropriate for your situation.
Most users who intend to publish their results will select "NO" for proprietary data collection. If you do not wish to disclose your results in the open literature, select "YES" for proprietary. Proprietary measurements (defined) require reimbursement for facility costs; contact the APS User Office on 630-252-9090 or [email protected] to make arrangements prior to submitting a proposal.
If the proposal will be central to a graduate student's thesis, please select "YES". This simply helps the APS track its contribution to student projects and education.
The answer to other questions here is commonly "NO". Project proposals are not appropriate for 11-BM. Do NOT select the macromolecular option, as this is triggers access to single-crystal instruments. Classified research is related to U.S. Government security needs; this is likey not possible at 11-BM due to data security requirements but contact staff for more details. Specific sample hazards are reported in the sample registration process; answering "NO" here does not affect this. If the new proposal is a direct follow-on to an older GUP, indicate that here.
The Subject of Research option is used by the APS to categorize beamline usage. You may select more than one field.
Click on the NEXT button at the bottom right to advance to the next section of the proposal. Clicking on SAVE from time-to-time is not a bad idea.
